What is William's Alligator?

Components of the Alligator Indicator

• Jaw (Blue Line): The longest moving average, typically set at 13 periods.
• Teeth (Red Line): The medium moving average, usually set at 8 periods.
• Lips (Green Line): The shortest moving average, generally set at 5 periods.

How the Alligator Works

• Uptrend: When the Lips (green) are above the Teeth (red), and the Teeth are above the Jaw (blue).
• Downtrend: When the Jaw (blue) is above the Teeth (red), and the Teeth are above the Lips (green).
• Flat Market: When the three lines are intertwined, indicating no clear trend.

Market Entry and Exit

• Entry: A buy signal is generated when the price breaks above the previous fractal and the Alligator lines confirm the uptrend. Conversely, a sell signal is generated when the price breaks below the previous fractal and the Alligator lines confirm the downtrend.
• Exit: Positions are typically exited using a trailing stop or when the Alligator lines indicate a trend reversal.

Advantages of Using the Alligator Indicator
